| My Father Richard Sears passed away 5/3/2008 | |

Daddy was setting at his computer Saturday morning when his heart stopped, there was no reviving him. He has been sick for a long time with several health problems including heart problems, high blood pressure, copd, reneal failure, several strokes, diabetes, and more. He is healed and out of pain now and in Heaven with his Father. Ocklawaha - Rev. Richard Allen Sears, Sr., 69, died Saturday May 3, 2008 in Ocala, Florida. He was born December 8, 1938 in Harlan County, Kentucky to Allen and Edith Sears. Rev. Sears was a Long Haul Truck Driver for many years living all over the country. In the summer of 1941 during an outbreak of spinal meningitis in Cincinnati, Ohio he was admitted to Cincinnati's Children Hospital along with four other children. During his 93 day hospital stay, a new drug called penicillin became available and was offered to the parents on an experimental basis. He was the first child to survive at the children's hospital. A life-sized statue was commissioned and displayed in the Medical Museum in Chicago, Illinois. Later in Life he attended the Midwestern Baptist Bible College in Pontiac, Michigan. Rev. Sears is Survived by his Wife of 49 yrs Ruth Ann Sears of Ocklawaha, His Mother Edith Mae Eads, Five Children Gregory Dwayne, Teresa Runa, Richard Allen, Jr., Joyce Lynn and John Lawrence, Eight Grandchildren and a Great Grandson all of the Ocala area. Brother Russell Phelps of Loveland, Ohio, Sisters Rosetta Bargo and Mary Lou Bradley of Tampa, Florida and Several Nieces and Nephews. Funeral Services will be held Saturday May 10, 2008 at 4:00 PM with Visitation from 3:00-4:00PM at the Cedar Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Vaughn Foust Officiating, Burial will follow in the Cedar Creek Baptist Church's Cemetery. Arrangements by HIERS FUNERAL HOME. [Submitted by Teresa] |
